ASK ME ABOUT...
...what I learned about my Buddy(ies) today.
...what I watched in Spanish.
...where I went and what I did for Work Stations.
...the "Star of the Week".
...the story, Mickey's Magnet.
...what 2 kinds of metal are magnetic.
SCIENCE~
We read the story Mickey's Magnet to learn more about magnets and why items are magnetic. The children learned that metals are magnetic, but only if the metals are iron or steel.
Children took turns using a magnet wand to feel how it pulls on the magnetic cake pan.
After the story and discussion about magnets, children were given a magnet wand and explored the classroom to find items that were magnetic.
STAR OF THE WEEK~
Lyndon is the Star of the Week! Today we learned that Lyndon's favorite things include: the beach (favorite place to visit); dogs (favorite animal); and football (favorite activity). Lyndon also shared his trophy from flag football. We enjoyed getting to know you better, Lyndon!
FREE CHOICE LEARNING~
Rocco and Lyndon work together to create an octopus mosaic.
EXTENDED DAY~
Today we were scientists! To begin, we discussed characteristics and differences of solids and liquids. We then did an experiment where we observed the transformation of a liquid to a solid. First, children helped make 2 different mixtures--1. glue, hot water and food coloring and
2. laundry powder detergent and hot water. Next, we slowly added the second mixture to the first mixture. As we stirred the two liquid mixtures together, it made a solid mixture-- flubber!
