FANTASTIC FRIDAY 10-16-15

ASK ME ABOUT...
...where I went and what I did for Work Stations.
...how many days we've been in school.
...what we did to celebrate Zero the Hero Day.
...how I can be an author in Pre-K.
...what I did in Music/Drama.

ZERO THE HERO DAY!~
Ask your child to show you the long way to count (counting by 1's) the frogs in the 10-frames and the quick way to count them  (counting by 10's).

Zero the Hero visited to help us celebrate.  He even had the number 40 on the back of his cape!

 WORK STATIONS AND FREE CHOICE~
Sam and Sally doing one of our new fine motor activities.  Children put 4 pipe cleaners into the holes of the salt shaker.  They can then add beads to the pipe cleaners.  When finished, children place their finished work somewhere in the classroom to decorate for Fall.

Samantha and Sydney play a new game, Colorama.
 Lucy looking through colored lenses.
Children can create their own dog from the book, Dog's Colorful Day.

We put jack-o-lantern stickers on our letter "J".

 PRE-K AUTHORS~
Today we introduced how we can be authors in Pre-K.  When a child has an idea for a book, he/she asks the teacher for a blank book.  We looked at the covers of real books and discussed what we see on them--title of the book, pictures of things you might find in the book and the author's name.

Children work on their books in a special seat with the words, "Author At Work".
Once a child completes his/her book, he/she shares it with the teacher.  Then, he/she places it in a special "Author Bucket".  Books in the Author Bucket will be shared with the class by the authors.
After sharing a book with his/her classmates, children will bring home the book in a special folder with a note to share the book at home with family.  After sharing the book at home, children should bring their books back to school where we will continue to enjoy them in our class Book Nook.
 EXTENDED DAY PRE-K~
Today was a Swimming Day!  Mr. Yakscoe shared with the Pre-K teachers after class that the children were PHENOMENAL in today's swimming class!
