WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY 1-27-16

ASK ME ABOUT...
...where I went and what I did for Work Stations.
...the story Heartprints.
...what a heartprint is.
...what we played in P.E.
...my 100th day homework.
...how many more school days until the 100th day of school!
~NEW WORK STATIONS~
Following are 2 more of the new Work Stations we introduced and did today.
At Games Galore, children play a memory game with passwords that we have had.

At Math Magic, children are working with math manipulatives called Tangrams.
Using the pieces in the above photo, children fill in the figures on the cards below.  With each card, there are less clues given as to where each piece fits.

In the Construction Zone, children work together to build a structure they see on a card using wood pieces.

~FREE CHOICE LEARNING~
Today we "painted" with snow paint (glue and shaving cream mixed together).  The children enjoyed this creative, sensory activity!

Today we read a story called Heartprints.  Heartprints are kind words and acts you do toward others.  After the story, we discussed words and acts that leave us with sad "heartprints".  We wrote down the ideas on a heart with an unhappy face and then wrinkled up this heart.  When we "unwrinkled" it, you could still see the wrinkles symbolizing what happens to us when someone is unkind to us.  Then, on a heart with a happy face, we wrote down ways to make others have a happy "heartprint".   Finally, the children were shown containers that are available in our classroom filled with "heartprints".  If/when someone does or says something kind to you, you can give that person a "heartprint" and tell him/her what he/she did that left you with a happy "heartprint".

~HIP HIP HOORAY!  IT'S ALMOST THE 100TH DAY!~
Pictured below is a note and a bag that your child is bringing home this evening in his/her folder.  It explains some "homework" we would like for the children to do in preparation for the 100th day of school next week.  We are very excited!!!

~EXTENDED DAY PRE-K~
Today was an Art Day!  Be sure to ask your child to share with you what he/she did in Art class today.
