~OUTER SPACE~
Today we asked the children to share with the group what they know about Outer Space. Their knowledge is quite impressive! Then, we read a book called, Me And My Place In Space. This is the official start of our study of Outer Space!
~EXTENDED DAY~
Here is an explanation of the Second Step lesson children did with Mr. Cross...
In Second Step, we look at two cards and we acted out some
emotions. One card showed a little boy that could have been sad, scared,
or even bored. We decided that he could be any of these things because
we looked at his face and his body for clues. We then talked about why
he might feel each of those ways. There were so many great thoughts.
The
next picture was a picture that showed the same little boy but we saw
other kids in the distance where he was looking. This made the picture
whole. Now we saw the reason, but it still wasn't clear what was
happening. We talked about why he might feel sad, scared, or bored with
people in the distance. Some responses stayed the same but others
changed because of this new piece of information.
As
we often do, we showed emotions using our faces. However, this time we
said them in Spanish! It was a fun twist one something we do often.
