ASK ME ABOUT...
...what we learned about the American flag at Assembly.
...what we did with Mrs. Arner in the library.
...what book I checked out from the library.
...showing you what I have learned about tally marks.
~NEW ADDITION ACTIVITY~
Yesterday, we introduced a "hands-on" addition activity.
Children choose a problem....
Next, they use concrete objects on the ten-frames to represent the addition problem.
Finally, the problem and solution are written on a recording sheet.
~TALLY MARKS~
Today we reviewed what we have learned about tally marks.
In the photo below, there are 12 straws. Children were asked to look at the straws and determine what it should look like using tally marks.
~NEW WORK STATIONS~
Tomorrow we will begin a new set of work stations.
At the Fine Motor Station, children will choose one the snowmen pictured below and draw the other 1/2.
At the Construction Zone, work station partners will be assigned a structure to build using small wood pieces.
At the Alphabet Station, children will draw and label two pictures that begin with the /U/ sound.
At the Writing Station, children will practice writing their first and last names using the appropriate upper and lower case letters.
Each child has a name card showing how his/her name should look with the appropriate upper and lower case letters. These name cards are hung at the children's cubbies for them to use when needed.
Today was a Technology Day. Children worked on the I-pads, practicing their patterning skills.
