MORNING MESSAGE~
Today was the first day the children had to answer a question on the Morning Message when they arrived at the classroom.   Most days, there will be a question for the children to answer related to something we are learning in class.  Today's question was, "How many stars are on the American flag?".  Children were given 2 options for an answer.  Each child places a sticker on the answer he/she thinks is correct.

 PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE~
Today was our first time to recite the Pledge of Allegiance before our Morning Meeting.  The Friendly Frog has the job of holding the flag.

ZERO THE HERO DAY!~
Zero the Hero visited our classroom again today for the 20th day of school!!  He sang our Zero the Hero song with us.

Samantha and her mom helped us celebrate Zero the Hero Day!  Samantha's mom read the story, This Is Not My Hat.  Then, each child made a fish with the number "0" as its body.  Thank you for helping us celebrate!

 MORNING MESSAGE~
Each morning, the Friendly Frog signs his/her name on the Morning Message.  Since Camille's name begins with a "C", Mrs. "B" asked the children for other words they know that begin with the /C/ sound like Camille.  She wrote down their ideas.  We also discussed how some words that begin with the /C/ sound begin with the letter "C" and some with the letter "K".

 FREE CHOICE LEARNING~
We introduced 2 new activities today to do during Free Choice time.  At the Writing Station, children can practice writing their classmates' names.  In the photo below, Sydney gets a classmate's photo/name card from the Word Wall.
Next, Sydney uses the photo/name card to write Bella's name beside of her photo.

At the Creation Station, children can do water color paintings.

 STORY~
We read the story pictured below two times today!  Be sure to ask your child the 3 reasons why the main character did not want to be a frog.  You can also ask your child what animals the frog wished he could be.
 LILY PADS~
In the hallway outside of our classroom are "lily pads" hanging on a bulletin board.  Each child has his/her own "pad" where he/she can choose to hang work that he/she has completed.

 EXTENDED DAY PRE-K~
We were chefs this afternoon!  First, we read the book, Ten Apples Up On Top.  Then, using table knives, the children cut sliced apples into small pieces.  Next, we measured and mixed ingredients in a bowl.  We put apples into the bottom of  a baking pan and added a "sweet" mixture on top.  After it baked in the oven, we ate this apple crisp for snack.  It got mixed reviews!
