FANTASTIC FRIDAY 9-25-15

ASK ME ABOUT...
...whose birthdays we celebrated.
...what letter we decorated and what we used to decorate it.
...what we did in P.E.
...where we did P.E.
...the new Mo Willems book we read today.
...what the letters A, E, I, O, U and sometimes Y are called.
...the Letter Group I was in.
MORNING MESSAGE~
Today's question on the Morning Message involved recognizing the amount of dots on a ten-frame.

Ian was the Friendly Frog today.  After he signed his name on the Morning Message, we brainstormed other words that start like Ian (with the long /E/ sound).  We then discussed that the /I/ in Ian's name makes the long /E/ sound instead of the short or long /I/ sound.  Talk about a confusing language!

LETTERS~
During Free Choice today, we decorated the letter "O" with octagons.  Ask your child to show you the motion we do when making the /O/ sound.  The children also discovered and learned today that some of the letters (A, E, I, O, U and half of Y) hanging in our classroom are yellow (instead of white) because they are vowels.

BIRTHDAY~
We helped Sally and Shand celebrate their September birthday today!  Their mom read the story, If You Give A Pig A Pancake.  Then, we enjoyed eating yummy chocolate chip cookies for their birthday snack.  Happy Birthday, Sally and Shand!

EXTENDED DAY PRE-K~
We were scheduled to do a cooking activity but we decided to postpone it until Monday.  Instead, we did Free Choice outside this afternoon and did  rhyming, beginning sound, and ten-frame activities on the SMARTBoard.
