THRILLING THURSDAY 4-2-15

ASK ME ABOUT...
...where I went and what I did for Work Stations.
...the new activity in the Sensory Tub.
...what I did in Music.
...what I learned about the Passover holiday.
...if I tasted matzo.
...what I learned about Neptune.
...the pictures I saw of the planets if they were as close to the Earth as the Moon.
...the people patterns we did.
FREE CHOICE LEARNING~
We added props for retelling the story, There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Frog, to the Book Nook.

At the Sensory Tub, children can use artificial flowers to make an arrangement.  When finished, children can put their arrangement someone in the classroom.

PASSOVER~
Today we read a story about the Jewish holiday of Passover and why this holiday is celebrated.  Then, the children were able to sample some matzo--unleavened bread eaten during the observance of Passover.

 OUTER SPACE~
Today we read about the 8th and final known planet--Neptune.
After reading about Neptune, we took a look at pictures of the planets and what they would look like if they were as close to the Earth as the Moon.
 Earth's Moon
 Mercury
 Venus
 Mercury
 Jupiter
 Saturn
 Uranus
 Neptune
 EXTENDED DAY PRE-K~
This afternoon, we had our first tornado drill at school.  We discussed safe and unsafe places at home and at school when there is a tornado.  Be sure to ask your child where we went during the tornado drill.

Today's empathy training lesson used the photo below to discuss "I" messages and how to use them to let someone know how his/her actions made you felt.  We will continue this lesson next week.
