HANDWRITING~
Today children learned and practiced writing the letter "E".
LETTER SOUND~
Today we introduced the letter sound /D/. We decorated the letter "D" with dots!
We did a "blending" activity with the letter sounds we have learned so far--/D/, /O/, /C/ and /A/. The children were taught how to say each individual sound and then blend them together.
After discussing the letter sound /D/, we mixed items together beginning with /D/, /A/ and /C/ and then sorted them back with their correct sound. Children can also do this activity independently at the Alphabet Station during Free Choice time.
FREE CHOICE LEARNING~Lianna did our new alphabet stacking block activity!
KJ is matching numbers in order from 1 to 20.
At the Fine Motor Station, Lianna stretches pony tail holders over a cup in a pattern.
Anna and Scarlett spelling classmates' names at the Alphabet Station.
Claire, Anna and Lianna playing teacher and students with the letter sound cards.
The counting basket now has plastic Fall leaves for counting on the 100 chart.
COLORS~
Today we read the book, The Day the Crayons Quit. Be sure to ask your child about this story. Next week we will make our own class book based on this book. Stay tuned!
EXTENDED DAY~
Today we made apple crisp. Children used table knives to cut the apples. They also helped measure and mix ingredients to make the "crisp". Of course the best part was eating it with ice cream for snack!
