FANTASTIC FRIDAY 10-17-14

ASK ME ABOUT...
...Mrs. Arner, our librarian who returned from maternity leave.
...the story Mrs. Arner told us in the library.
...which library book I checked out.
...where I went and what I did for Work Stations.
...what letter I learned and practiced writing.
...the story, Dog's Colorful Day.
...how many days we've been in school.
...what we made to celebrate Zero the Hero Day!
FREE CHOICE LEARNING~
A new activity at the Fine Motor Station is putting pipe cleaners into a salt shaker and stringing beads on to the pipe cleaners.  When finished, children can set their creation somewhere in the classroom to decorate the classroom for the day.

At the Creation Station, children can complete the task pictured below, where they match pictures to the correct sentence, using the color words for assistance.

 COLORS~
Today we read the story, Dog's Colorful Day.   When reading it the second time, children participated in the retelling of the story using props.  This activity is now available in the Book Nook for children to do during Free Choice time.

HANDWRITING~
Children learned and practiced the correct way to write a letter "H".

 ZERO THE HERO!~
Today we celebrated our 40th day of school!  Elliott's parents and Rubina's mom came in to help us celebrate.  The children made Fall wreaths by gluing leaves on to a "zero".  Thank you for helping us celebrate!

 EXTENDED DAY~
Today we did an activity to review the 4 letter sounds that we have learned so far.  Children would choose an object from a "mystery box", identify the beginning sound of the object, and then match it to the correct letter.
