THRILLING THURSDAY 4-17-14

ASK ME ABOUT...
...where I went and what I did for Work Stations.
...what I did in P.E.
...what I did in Spanish.
...what letter I learned and practiced writing.
...the story, The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
...the mistake that is in the story The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

WORK STATIONS~
Today we started a new set of Work Stations.

At the Project Station, children are creating a sentence and illustrating it.

At the Writing Station, children are practicing writing passwords.

At the Overhead Station, children are playing a number game on a chart with numbers from 1 to 100.

At the Creation Station, children are painting a section of an egg carton to create a caterpillar.

At Math Magic, children are measuring objects with a "caterpillar" ruler.
At the Fine Motor Station, children are using their visual discrimination skills.

At the Discovery Station, children put into correct order the life cycle of a butterfly.

Children who go to the Lily Pad for Work Stations do math activities with Mrs. Spolter.

In the photo below, Berkeley is using a math manipulative called pentominoes to solve the task cards.

LIFE CYCLE OF A BUTTERFLY~
Today we read a childhood favorite--The Very Hungry Caterpillar.  We read the book twice, with the children participating in the second reading using the flannel board and props.  This activity is now available in the Book Nook during Free Choice time.

HANDWRITING~
Children learned and practiced writing letter "Y" today in their handwriting books.
