ASK ME ABOUT...
...the 2 birthdays we celebrated today!
...our new "Star of the Week".
...what I did in Spanish.
...the story, What Does Peace Feel Like?.
...the activity I did with my buddies.
...what our pattern is on the calendar for the month of February.
PEACE~
Today we read a story (What Does Peace Feel Like?) and had a discussion about what peace means....and what it feels, smells, tastes, sounds, and looks like. We referred to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and how he wanted us to live peacefully with others. Some children made reference to the "peace rose" we use in our classroom when we have a conflict with others.
Later in the morning, we met with our 2nd grade buddies (who had also read the peace book) and shared our ideas about what peace feels, smells, tastes, sounds, and looks like. Next, the children drew pictures and labeled their ideas. Their completed pages are hanging on the bulletin board outside of our classroom. Be sure to check them out!
STAR OF THE WEEK~
Brett is our new "Star of the Week"! Brett shared his photos and his T-ball trophy with us. We also learned about some of Brett's favorite things, including scarlet/gray and red/white (favorite colors); dark chocolate (favorite dessert); and a monkey (favorite animal). Thank you for helping us get to know you better, Brett!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY~
Today we helped Morgan celebrate her February birthday! Morgan's dad read the story, Little Black Dog, and then we ate chocolate-covered strawberries for Morgan's birthday treat. Happy Birthday, Morgan!
FREE CHOICE LEARNING~
We had some busy students today at the Creation Station...
Morgan creates a peace sign on the geoboard.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!~
Today we helped Carsyn celebrate her half-birthday. Carsyn's mom read the story, Alligator Baby, and then we ate frog cake pops for Carsyn's birthday treat! Happy Birthday, Carsyn!
