WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY 10-9-13

LETTERS/SOUNDS
Today we discussed the letter sound /Q/.   After viewing words that begin with "Q", we noticed that there is always a letter "u" that follows.  We also discussed the sound that Qu makes.   We decorated the letter "Q" with question marks.

Yesterday we glued gold glitter on the letter "G".

MAGNET EXPLORATION~
Today we read a book about magnets and discussed what makes an object magnetic.  It has to be a metal object that is made from iron or steel.  After our book and discussion, the children were given a magnet and the opportunity to explore and experiment to find items in the classroom that were magnetic.  Be sure to ask your child what he/she found to be magnetic in our classroom.

 HANDWRITING~
Today was our first formal handwriting lesson!
Children learned about making straight lines and starting at the top when making the lines.  Children practiced making a line from top to bottom in the air, on a classmate's back, and finally on paper.
