TERRIFIC TUESDAY 10-29-13

...where I went and what I did for Work Stations.
...what I did in P.E.
...what I did in Spanish.
...the story, The Relatives Came.
...what a relative is.
...what a fear is.
...the story, Bear Feels Scared.
...the "web" of fears we made and what we did with the "web" of fears when we were finished.

 NEW WORK STATIONS~
At the Project Station, children cut out 3 pictures and put them in order representing the nursery rhyme, "Little Miss Muffet".
At Math Magic, children "flip" a paper pumpkin and record the results after each flip.

At the Alphabet Station, some children will "write the room", finding and recording words around the classroom.  Some children will do an alphabet hunt where they locate different letters in the room and color them in on a recording sheet.
At the Discovery Station, children sequence the order of the life cycle of a pumpkin.

At the Writing Station, children illustrate their page for our class book, Please Don't Quit, a follow-up activity to the reading of the book, The Day The Crayons Quit.
At the Fine Motor Station, children cut out different sizes of pumpkins and glue them in order by size.
At the Creation Station, children glue foam pieces on to a rainbow in the correct color order.
Children working with Mrs. Spolter exercise their spatial reasoning skills using various math manipulatives.
Using the cards pictured below, children build the structure on the card using color cubes.

Using the cards pictured below, children use pattern blocks to fill in the shapes.

 WRITER'S WORKSHOP~
Our story during Writer's Workshop was, The Relatives Came.  We then had some children share a personal story to the class related to this book.

 FREE CHOICE LEARNING~
Creative skills were flowing today at the Creation Station.

 DISCUSSION ABOUT FEARS~
In our recent nursery rhyme, we learned that Miss Muffet was frightened by a spider.  As a follow-up, today we talked about fears and what happens when you are afraid of something.  We then read the story, Bear Feels Scared.  Following the story, we made a web of fears, where each child shared a fear.  After everyone shared, we collected the web and threw away our fears.
