~HIP HIP HOORAY--IT'S THE 100TH DAY!~
We had a packed, fun-filled morning celebrating the 100th day of school!
During Calendar, we counted 10 single yellow cubes and traded then in for a green 10-rod. We added this 10-rod to the 9 ten-rods we already have and it made 100! We traded in the ten 10-rods for 1 blue flat--that has 100 squares!
~100TH DAY "WORK STATIONS"~
Using the mat pictured below, children counted the 100 objects they brought in by putting the objects into 10 groups of 10.
We are making a class book about the number 100. Children decided if they could have 100 of anything what they would choose. They then drew a picture of the item.
Children worked with a partner to make a paper chain with 10 links. We had 10 partner groups which makes 100 links. We will put together the ten 10-link chains tomorrow.
With a partner, children tried to stack 100 pennies.
Zero the Hero came to visit and even had the number 100 on the back of his cape!
Our bags of 100 items are displayed on our classroom bulletin board.
Here are all the number 100's children found at home.
~OUR 100TH DAY STORY~ ~100TH DAY SNACK~
Using 10 different foods, children counted 10 pieces of each food to fill the 10-frames on their paper. Once it was filled, there were 100 pieces of food for the children to eat!
~ESTIMATION JARS~
During Free Choice time, children were asked to look at 3 jars that were the same size but were filled with different items. Children had do decide which jar they thought had the 100 items.
After Free Choice, we counted the objects in each jar. Jar #3 had 80 Legos.
We even had a little time for Free Choice today. Samantha, Sydney, Lyndon and Max worked cooperatively to put together this Space puzzle.
~EXTENDED DAY PRE-K~
Since today was the 100th day of school, we played a game called, "Race To 100" on the SMARTBoard.
