WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY 12-9-15

ASK ME ABOUT...
...what I did in my Letter Group.
...what I did in P.E.
...what letter I learned and practiced writing.
...the story parts (character, setting, problem, solution, etc.) for the book, That Is NOT A Good Idea.

~HANDWRITING~
We reviewed horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines.  To help the children remember the difference between horizontal and vertical lines, we told them that horizontal lines like to sleep lying down and vertical lines are standing up.

In their handwriting books, children practiced making the + sign, which has both a vertical and a horizontal line.

We then moved on to practicing the correct way to write an upper case "L".   First, children practiced on a chalkboard, using the "Wet, Dry, Try" method.  Using a small, damp sponge, children made the letter "L" on their slates.  Next, they used a dry paper towel to go over the wet "L".  Finally, they use a piece of chalk to write an "L" on their chalkboard.
Children then practiced writing letter "L" in their handwriting books.

~STORYTIME~
Today we reread the story, That Is NOT A Good Idea!  We then discussed and identified the different parts of the story, including the characters, the setting, the problem and the solution.
~HOLIDAY LIGHTS~
We are enjoying the "holiday in lights" photos the children are sharing.  There is still time for your child to bring in a photo to share.

  ~EXTENDED DAY PRE-K~
Today was a Cooking Day and we made cinnamon crescent rolls.  The children helped measure and mix the ingredients for the filling and also for the glaze.  On unrolled crescent dough, children spread the filling and then rolled up their crescent.  After the rolls baked, the glaze was spread on top.  These were a huge hit!!!
