...my new work station partner.

 NEW WORK STATIONS~
Today we started a new set of Work Stations.  See photos and descriptions below...

At the Lily Pad, children exercise their spatial reasoning and problem solving skills using pattern blocks.  Pattern Blocks include hexagons, trapezoids, diamonds and squares.  Children have to figure out which shapes to use to fill in and complete a picture.

We introduced a new station today, called the Overhead Station (see photo below).  Children use tangram pieces to complete a puzzle card.  The image is projected on to the wall.

At Math Magic, children work on putting numbers in the correct order.

At the Alphabet Station, children are "letter detectives".  There are upper or lower case letters hidden around the classroom.  Using their sunglasses, clipboard, letter chart and highlighters, children go in search of finding the letters and then highlighting them on their chart.

At Games Galore, children play the game, Colorama.
At the Work Work Station, children can choose from several activities.

At the Creation Station, children complete a rainbow by filling in the colors in the correct order.  Children can choose from different materials to complete their rainbow.

 VETERAN'S DAY~
Veteran's Day is next week and is marked on our classroom calendar.  To help explain this holiday, we read a simple story.  We also explained a homework assignment we would like for the children to complete with your help and bring back before next Tuesday.  We will be doing a special activity on Veteran's Day using the information you send back.  Thanks!

Today was Technology Day!  First, we reviewed on the SMARTBoard some new activities that the children could choose to do on abcya.com.  Next, children had their own laptop computer to do language and/or math activities from abcya.com.  The children are also getting experience using the wireless mouse which isn't always easy!
