ASK ME ABOUT...
...the new greeting we did this morning--"Hello Neighbor".
...the new passsword.
...what pictures I drew that begin with the /L/ sound.
...what I did in Music/Drama.
...what I did in Spanish.
...the story, Elephants Can't Dance.
...what we used to decorate the letter "E".
...showing the sign we do to help us remember the /E/ sound.
Ask your child to read the title of the book pictured below. Then, ask him/her why he/she read it loudly and with excitement.
We decorated our letter "E" with elephants. Be sure to ask your child to show you the motion we do when saying the /E/ sound.
Children drew pictures of 2 things beginning with the /L/ sound. They then used inventive spelling to label their pictures.

Below are photos of a few of the new activities we introduced today.....

The group of children pictured below are playing a memory game. To make a match, they need the photo of a classmate and the correct name that goes with the picture.
Shand counts the shells in the counting basket and discovers....
...there are 100 shells!
Today the children had a "Second Step" lesson with Mr. Cross. Below is an explanation of what they did.
Where’s the Lego?
- I showed the students the Lego and then hid the button in one fist and pretend to switch hands a few times.
- Then I asked the students to raise their right hand if they thought it was in the right and raise their left hand if they thought it was in the left.where the button is by saying hands up for left, hands up for right.
- After playing two rounds I asked, “Was I trying to trick you?”
- "Sometimes it's alright to trick someone and other times it isn't."
Story Discussion
- We Looked at a picture of two girls.
- One girl was hurt and the other was looking on with a hand on her shoulder.
- The students Observed the picture (we talked about what observe means and how we can observe). We observed for 20 seconds silently.
- Then we Described what we observed. We discussed how describing something means that we talk about what we observe.
- After describing our observations, we Interpreted what we observed. We talked about how interpreting means to think about what could be happening in the picture and all of the things that could happen based on the emotions that we saw in the picture.
- Lastly, we talked about if we could Prove our interpretations or not. We decided that it wasn't possible to prove our interpretation since we weren't actually there.
Scenarios
- We Discussed different scenarios and if they are accidents or on purpose. In all of these scenarios we talked about how it is important to apologize.
- Someone spilled juice.
- Someone pulled another person’s chair out from under them.
- Someone tripped another person.
- Tossed a ball and hurt another person’s hand while playing catch.
- Someone squirted another person with a hose.
- Someone was riding a bike and the wheel fell off.
Before our closing meeting this afternoon, we played a version of "Hangman" called "Mr. Potato Head". Be sure to ask your child how we played this game and who won!
