LETTER SOUNDS~
To review the letter sound /U/, we read the story, Great Day For Up. Then, we brainstormed words beginning with the /U/ sound. Following our brainstorming, children drew two pictures of things beginning with /U/.
FREE CHOICE~
The following photos are of "have-to" activities that children must complete some time this week during Free Choice.
At Math Magic, children are reading the tally marks and then matching the corresponding number.
At the Writing Station, children are "window writing". Using erasable markers and words from the word wall, children copy words on to the window. At the Creation Station, children are designing a bag for collecting their Valentines from classmates later this week.
Other activities going on during Free choice include:
A new chart with numbers 1 through 200! Children had hearts to count on this chart from the counting basket.
Lianna exercises her fine motor muscles and skills screwing nuts on to bolts at the Fine Motor Station.
Rubina feeds pipe cleaners through the holes of a salt shaker and adds beads to the pipe cleaners at the Fine Motor Station.
Avery and Graham work on an Outer Space puzzle from the Discovery Station.
STAR OF THE WEEK~
Our new "Star of the Week" is Gabriel! Today we learned that Gabriel's favorite things include: chocolate (favorite dessert); Rusty Bucket (favorite restaurant); and transformers (favorite toy). Thank you for sharing your photos and your favorite things with us, Gabriel!
EXTENDED DAY PRE-K~
Today we had swimming with Mr. Yakscoe. The children did a new activity today--used a kickboard and kicked the width of the pool in the shallow end. Some children thought they couldn't do it, but after accomplishing this task said, "I did it." and "This is fun."
Following some Rest after swimming, children ate the frozen fruit and yogurt pops we made last Friday. These were a big hit!
