100th DAY OF SCHOOL!!

ASK ME ABOUT...
...what the sign at our classroom door said.
...how many days we've been in school.
...the story we read about the 100th day of school.
...the 100 things we could eat for snack.
...Free Choice time and if I did any "have-tos".
...what I did in P.E.
...stacking 100 pennies.
...counting my bag of 100 things.
...making a paper chain with a partner.
...building with 100 plastic cups in the Construction Zone.
...the 100th Day crown I colored.

We had an incredibly BUSY, but exciting 100th day of school!  There are plenty of photos below to prove it!

HIP, HIP, HOORAY!  IT'S THE 100TH DAY!

 CALENDAR~
We added the #100 today to our number of days in school.

We learned that 10 groups of 10 (or 10 ten-rods) makes 100.  So, we traded the 10-rods in for 1 blue "flat".  Be sure to ask your child how many squares are on the flat!

ESTIMATION~
Children were asked to guess which jar had 100 objects.  Everyone wrote down their guess.  We will count the objects in the jars tomorrow.  We ran out of time today!
There is even a book about the 100th day of school!
 SNACK~
Today's snack involved the children counting out 10 pieces of 10 different foods to make 100!  Be sure to ask your child if he/she ate all 100 pieces!

 100th DAY ACTIVITIES~
We did some special activities today to celebrate the 100th day!  With a partner, children attempted to stack 100 pennies!

In partners, children taped together 10 strips of paper to make a 10-link chain.  There are 10 sets of partners.  So, when we hook the chains together, there will be 100 links!

Children decorated their own 100th day crown!

Using the objects they brought in, children counted them making 10 groups of 10 to see how it makes 100.  We will display the bags of 100 objects in our classroom and will then return them!

We think it's safe to say that......

EXTENDED DAY~
Today was a Technology Day!  We did a special activity on the SMARTBoard to help us celebrate the 100th day!
