...how the cow jumped over the moon in the story, Cindy Moo.

MORNING MESSAGE~
Ask your child what was different about the first part of our Morning Message.
We came up with words that rhyme with moon.  One of those words was noon, so Mrs. "B" decided to explain how the word noon is a palindrome ( a word spelled the same forward and backward).
Then, we came up with some other words that are palindromes....
CALENDAR~
Since today is our last school day in the month of February.  We totaled up our February weather graph.  Be sure to ask your child to share with you what had the most and the least and if anything was equal on this weather graph.
 HANDWRITING~
We have finished learning how to make all of the upper case letters.  Today, children completed a review page.  Next, we learn how to write numbers!
 OUTER SPACE~
Today we completed our Sun, Moon and Earth activity.  Your child is bringing this home today.  He/she can teach you the song we have learned about the Earth rotating and revolving and the Moon revolving.  They can also demonstrate it for you!
 FREE CHOICE LEARNING~
Margo and Avery work together building/creating with Legos.
Anna and Amara are excited about the finished rocket mosaic they did together.

 PARTNER READING~
Today, children were paired with a partner and then read their "Book In A Bag" to the partner.

 HEY, DIDDLE, DIDDLE~
Since we have been learning about the moon, we brought out the nursery rhyme about the cow jumping over the moon.  We discussed what the word fiddle and sport meant in the rhyme.  We also discussed ideas about why the dish an spoon ran away.
After the nursery rhyme, we read the story, Cindy Moo.  Be sure to ask your child to tell you about this story!

EXTENDED DAY PRE-K~
Today was a Cooking Day and we made moon cakes!

Busy Builders at the Construction Zone.

Margo and Elliott count the Space objects in the counting basket.
Gabriel and George build space vehicles at the Discovery Station.

OUTER SPACE~
Children created a Sun, Earth and Moon today.  Tomorrow, we will assemble them with the words to a song we have doing to help us learn about the Earth rotating and revolving around the Sun and the Moon revolving around the Earth.

Today we reread the story, Goodnight Moon.  Then, we each shared something from our own bedrooms to whom/which we like to say, "Goodnight".  Using these ideas, we will make our own class book called "Goodnight".
Today we read the story, Who Gets the Sun Out of Bed?  Be sure to ask your child who woke up the sun.

Today we had Art with Mr. Cicetti.  First, the children were introduced to an Art activity on the I-pads.  They then enjoyed visiting the various Art stations.

TERRIFIC TUESDAY 2-24-15

ASK ME ABOUT...
...where the moon gets its light.
...the story, Goodnight Moon.
...how the word goodnight is a compound word.
...where I went and what I did during Free Choice.
...what I did in P.E.
...what letter sound we discussed.

...the graph I did in Spanish.
 OUTER SPACE~
Today we read the classic story, Goodnight Moon.
Throughout the story, we found words that we can read, a pattern to the pictures on the pages, and identified the rhymes we heard.  Children can continue to enjoy this story by retelling it on the flannel board in the Book Nook or listening to it at the Listening Station.

 LETTER SOUND~
Today we discussed the letter "N" and its sound.  We wrote our names on the "N" that hangs in our classroom.
 FREE CHOICE LEARNING~
Today we introduced some new activities for Free Choice time.

At the Writing Station, children can walk through the room to locate different Space words.  They then record the words on the sheet pictured below.

At the Alphabet Station, children can identify the beginning letter sound of these Space words.

Today was Technology Day!  The children were asked to choose and do one letter activity and one number activity and then they choose other activities from abcya.com.  We are observing the children becoming more skilled at working with the wireless mouse on the laptop.  They are needing less assistance and becoming more independent!
