ASK ME ABOUT...
...where I went and what I did for new Work Stations.
...what instruments we played in Music.
...what I learned about snowflakes from the book, The Story of Snow.
...making a snowflake.
NEW CLASS BOOK~
Be on the lookout for our new class book called, Pre-K "A" Color Day Book. Each child will have the opportunity to bring home this book to share with his/her family.
NEW WORK STATIONS~
At the Sensory Tub, children use a magnet wand to determine if objects hidden in the tub are magnetic or non-magnetic.
At the Fine Motor Station, children cover a snowflake figure with small stickers.
At Math Magic, children create a "Winter" pattern.
In the Book Nook, children put the words to our snowman poem together on the pocket chart.
After putting together the poem, children locate words in the poem beginning with specific letters.
At the Discovery Station, children can choose what activity they would like to do. Anna creates a snowflake from a model.
K.J. investigates the globe.
At the Alphabet Station, children put letters on clothespins in alphabetic order by clipping them on a hanger.
At the Writing Station, children create a page for our class book about Winter.
Children use a model to order the words to the sentence on their page and then illustrate it.
Today we read a non-fiction book about snow and how snowflakes are formed in clouds and fall to the Earth. We then created our own snowflakes and discussed how every snowflake, like each of us, is unique.
EXTENDED DAY PRE-K~
Today was a Discovery Day. To begin, we read a book called Stranger In the Woods. We then discussed what birds do during the Winter--some go to warmer places (migration), while others stay in the cold. To help the birds find food, we made bagel bird feeders. Children brought these home and should hang them outside.
Today was a Discovery Day.
