WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY 5-6-15

ASK ME ABOUT...
...where I went and what I did for Work Stations.
...what I did in Music.
...what a moth and butterfly uses its antennae for.
...when moths fly and when butterflies fly.
...the similarities and differences between moths and butterflies.
...what happened in Charlotte's Web.
LIFE CYCLE OF A BUTTERFLY~
Yesterday and today, children took their egg carton caterpillars and wrapped them into a chrysalis.  Then, they put them inside in a chrysalis and hung them around the classroom.

We learned and discussed the similarities and differences between moths and butterflies.  Some of the difference include...

~Butterflies usually have bright, colorful wings, while moths have dull, dark wings.
~Butterflies fly during the day, while most moths fly at night.
~When they land, butterflies and moths lay their wings differently.
~Butterflies emerge from a chrysalis and moths emerge from a cocoon.

Today was a Discovery Day!  First, we discussed what we knew (or thought we knew) about tornadoes.  Then, we read a book about tornadoes and safe places to go if you find yourself near one.  Finally, we did a "simulated tornado" using water moving from one bottle to the next.
