THRILLING THURSDAY 12-11-14

ASK ME ABOUT...
...where I went and what I did at Work Stations.
...what I did in Drama.
...what I did in Music.
...the nursery rhyme we learned.
...what the word "nimble"means.
...what we discovered about the colored ice cubes that melted.
WORK STATIONS~
Mitch and Luke work together to find the numbers 1 through 50 hidden in the sensory tub.  Once found, they match the numbers on the number chart.

Liana exercises her spatial reasoning skills building with cubes.
George demonstrates his spatial reasoning skills, too!

FREE CHOICE LEARNING~
Clare and Anna work together putting number tiles, 1 through 100 on the number chart.

Spencer and Luke busy in the Construction Zone.
Avery takes the time to fit many tiny Legos on to a template.

ICE CUBE EXPERIMENT~ We checked the cups where our colored ice cubes melted.  Today, there was just water in the cups.  But we discovered that the color of the water was different from the color of the ice cubes we put into the cup.

The cup that had blue and yellow ice cubes resulted in...
 green water!
The cup with red and yellow ice cubes ended up with orange water.  The cup with red and blue ice cubes ended up with purple water.  The cup with red, yellow and blue ice cubes ended up with greenish-brown water.
  NURSERY RHYME~
Today we introduced the nursery rhyme "Jack Be Nimble".  We identified the rhymes we heard, discussed what nimble means, and why Jack needed to be nimble and quick when jumping over the candlestick.

EXTENDED DAY~
We continued our lesson from last week on transparent and opaque.  After reviewing these concepts, we introduced and discussed what it means when something is translucent.  The children made something to demonstrate each concept and are bringing it home in their folders.  Be sure to ask your child to show and explain it to you!
