HANUKKAH~
We continued our discussion about Hanukkah today with another story and seeing a real menorah and watching how it is lit.

 "MR. POTATO HEAD"~
Today we played our Pre-K version of "hangman",  called, "Mr. Potato Head".  We used the passwords we have learned so far for this game.  Children needed to figure out the word before building "Mr. Potato Head".

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
We hope you have a restful and enjoyable holiday with family and friends!

 MORNING MESSAGE~
Today, we introduced a new part to our Morning Message.  At the end of our Morning Message, we will now pose a question for the children to answer prior to beginning our day.  Today's question was, "Do you like turkey?".

WRITER'S WORKSHOP~
During today's Writer's Workshop, we read the book, Only One You
After reading the story and sharing a personal story related to the book, we showed the children a book/journal that they will begin working in on Monday.  During Writer's Workshop, children will have the opportunity to draw a personal story in their book.  Children will use their knowledge and skills to write about each personal story they draw.  Some children may label the pictures or write a simple sentence, using their knowledge of the letters and sounds.  Children will continue making entries in their book throughout the rest of the school year.

 THANKSGIVING~
We read another book and held a discussion about what it means to be thankful.  The children identified 2 things for which they are thankful.  We recorded these things and they are displayed on a "Tree of Thanks" on the bulletin board outside of our classroom.

Using snowflake stamps, the children made wrapping paper today that will be used to wrap gifts for the family we are helping this holiday season.

 MATZOH BALL SOUP~
Today we made matzoh ball soup!  We mixed the eggs, oil, and matzoh.  Next, we rolled the mixture into balls and cooked them in chicken broth.  The children enjoyed making and eating the soup!

 THE NAPPING HOUSE~
We reread the story, The Napping House  and asked the children to help us retell the story with props.  We asked children to recall the sequence of events in the story, recall vocabulary from the story, etc.  The story and props are now available in the Book Nook for the children to use during Free Choice time.
