~OUTER SPACE~
At snack, children experienced what it would be like to eat like an astronaut in Outer Space. They ate pudding using a straw.
We read a story about space shuttles and what happens to get them ready for a launch, to launch them, and then what happens when they are in Outer Space.
We did our own experiment to simulate a space shuttle blasting off. A drinking straw was threaded through a piece of yarn. The yarn was then attached from the ceiling to the floor. The straw was the "space shuttle". First, children shared their ideas about how to get the straw from the floor to the ceiling. Then, the children were shown a balloon and they brainstormed ways to move the straw using the balloon. Be sure to ask your child how we used the balloon to move the straw from the floor to the ceiling. This experiment was a big hit!
Today we helped Chi-Chi celebrate her March birthday. Chi-Chi's mom read the story, It's A Firefly Night. We then enjoyed eating cookies for Chi-Chi's birthday treat. Happy Birthday, Chi-Chi!
~EXTENDED DAY PRE-K~
Today was a swimming day!
