...what happened to our caterpillar Sabrina!
LIFE CYCLE OF A BUTTERFLY~
Today we discussed the symmetry of a butterfly's wings.
First, we discussed what symmetry means by looking at different paper shapes. We folded each different shape to determine if it was or was not symmetrical. Then, using a blank butterfly,
we created symmetrical butterfly wings. The teacher placed a specific shape and color sticker on one side of the butterfly and then gave an identical sticker to a child to place on the opposite side of the butterfly, making sure it was symmetrical. Be sure to check out the last photo which shows our completed symmetrical butterfly.
CATERPILLAR UPDATE~
When we checked our caterpillars this morning, we discovered that one of them (Sabrina) has transformed into its chrysalis!
We transferred the chrysalis from the tiny cup into our butterfly netted garden. The children are keeping a careful and close watch on our other two caterpillars, Cookie Monster and Snickers. Right now, they both are hanging upside down from the lids of their tiny cups. Stay tuned!
