WINTER BREAK

THRILLING THURSDAY 12-19-13

ASK ME ABOUT...
...the creature that visited our classroom today.
...what I did in Music.
...the story, The First Day of Winter.
...playing the "Mr. Potato Head" game (a.k.a Hangman).

...what we did to celebrate Zero the Hero Day!

CLASS VISITOR~
Our Star of the Week, Nate, brought in his pet leopard gecko to share with the class.  The gecko spent the entire day with us!
 
















 FREE CHOICE LEARNING~
Morgan and Sophia count the snowflakes and snowmen the counting basket.

 WINTER~
Since the first day of winter is this Saturday, we thought it would be a good idea to read a book about it!
 ZERO THE HERO~
Today was the 80th day of school!  We celebrated Zero the Hero Day by stringing beads to make a bracelet.  Thank you to Kyndal and her family for providing us with this fun activity!

WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY 12-18-13

STAR OF THE WEEK~
Today we learned more about our friend, Nate!  Nate's favorite things include his favorite color:  blue;  favorite animal:  a husky dog; and his favorite restaurant:  Chipotle.  Thank you for sharing your photos and helping us get to you know better, Nate!

 WINTER~
Today we read a rhyming book about snow, discussed characteristics of snowflakes, and then made our own snowflakes!





 SPANISH~
Ask your child to explain the activities they have done recently in Spanish learning about chocolate!

 RAZ-KIDS~
A note came home in your child's folder today about Raz-Kids, an on-line reading program that your child can access from home.
 HOLIDAY GIFT~
A holiday gift came home in your child's folder.  This gift is from Mrs. B, Ms. Schroeder, and Mrs. Spolter.

TERRIFIC TUESDAY 12-17-13

ASK ME ABOUT...

HANDWRITING~
Children practiced forming their letters today using their fingers in shaving cream.  It was much more fun than pencil and paper!









 FREE CHOICE LEARNING~
August's creation with playdough and straws at the Fine Motor Station.

 FAMILIES~
Today we revisited our study of families and read the book, The Family Book, by Todd Parr.  This is a wonderfully-written book about how families can be different and ways that families are the same!

MARVELOUS MONDAY 12-16-13

Today we did another problem-solving activity using logical reasoning.


 WORK STATIONS~

 HOLIDAY LIGHTS~
 Today Ms. Schroeder taught us about Advent.  She shared the Advent wreath that she uses in her home and explained the color and meaning of each candle as well as when each candle is lit.
