Today we discussed the American Flag--what we notice on the flag (it has a pattern; there are stars; there are stripes; there is red, white, and blue) and what the different symbols represent. We also looked at a picture of the Ohio flag as well as various other flags of other countries. Each child then made his/her own family flag. The "stripes" represent how many people are in your family. Squares represent brothers and circles represent sisters. Stars are on the family flags to represent pets in your family. Our family flags will be displayed on the bulletin board outside of our classroom.
