TERRIFIC TUESDAY 1-22-13
Today we read a story called, What Does Peace Feel Like? and tied it into Martin Luther King's desire for us to live in peace. After the story, the children provided their thoughts and ideas about what peace looks like, feels like, smells like, look like, and sounds like. We then met with our buddies to write down and illustrate our ideas about peace. Be sure to ask your child to share his/her paper about peace with you!

FANTASTIC FRIDAY
We celebrated our 90th day of school today! Graham's mom brought in paper zeroes for us to color. When we finished coloring them, we crumpled them and tossed them into the middle of a parachute. We then shook the parachute and bounced around the crumpled zeroes until they all popped off the parachute. Graham's mom also read us the story, Chick, Chicka--1,2,3. Thanks to Graham and his mom for a fun activity!

NEW WORK STATIONS~
NEW POPCORN WORD~
HAPPY BIRTHDAY~
Today we introduced new work stations that we will do for the next 2 weeks. Following is a description and photo of our new work stations.
At the Alphabet Station, children will match pictures that rhyme.
At Math Magic, students will complete a graph.
At the Writing Station, children are cutting apart a sentence (their words) and gluing them in order on to the Winter picture they drew. We will compile all of the pages into a class book and add it to the Book Nook in our classroom.
At the Project Station, children will work on laptops with RazKids, which is a program where children can read and listen to books and take a quiz for comprehension. We will send home further information about RazKids at the end of January, so that your child can access this program on your home computer, as well.
At the Fine Motor Station, children will draw the other half of the snowman.
At the Creation Station, children will create the parts of a snowman using various, random, recycled items. We will display the snowmen in our classroom.
At the Overhead Station, children choose passwords from the word wall and then spell them with letter tiles on the overhead projector.
