FANTASTIC FRIDAY 10-4-13

 Working on mosaics at the Creation Station.
 Writing our classmates' names at the Writing Station.

 
 Counting the objects from the counting basket at Math Magic.
 Enjoying stories in the Book Nook.

 
 Retelling the story, Sheep On A Ship.
 Working on a lower case letter dot-to-dot at the Alphabet Station.
 Matching rhymes at the Alphabet Station.
 Putting numbers in order from 1 to 20.
 We decorated our letter "A" with "Academy"!
 STORY~
Today we read another version of "There Was An Old Lady....".  Be sure to ask your child what the old lady ate in this story and what happened at the end of the story.  Children can retell this story with props in the Book Nook.


 MATH~
The children graphed a small amount of M&M's.  Be sure to ask your child to share his/her graph with you.  Ask your child....
~What color had the most?
~What color had the least?
~Were any colors equal?

THRILLING THURSDAY 10-3-13

ZERO THE HERO~
We filled up our 10-frame and made it to another Zero the Hero Day!
 We have been in school for 30 days!  We now have 3 groups of ten in our pocket.
 
 Emily, her mom, and her grandmother helped us celebrate Zero the Hero Day.  They brought in materials for us to make a "Zero" Fall wreath.
 STORY~
We talked about the /sh/ sound today in the story, Sheep on a Ship.  This story was filled with rhyming words.  The children also learned how to retell a story using the illustrations.
 PATTERN BLOCKS~
The children in the photos below were busy building and creating with pattern blocks in the Construction Zone.

WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY 10-2-13

FRIENDLY FROG~
Avery was the Friendly Frog today--finally!  Now, everyone in the class has had a first turn to be the Friendly Frog.
 
 PARTNER PATTERNS~
Today, we partnered the children and assigned them to a specific station in the classroom where they were to choose materials and together create one pattern.  The children worked very cooperatively with one another.  Here are their patterns....
 











VISITING AUTHOR~
We finally got to meet author, Jarrett J. Krosoczka!  During our visit with him, he read to us 3 of his books--Punk Farm, Annie Was Warned, and Baghead.  After reading each story, Mr. Krosoczka drew pictures of a character from each book.  The presentation was very interactive and the children enjoyed his visit!











 P.E. CLASS~
During today's P.E. class, the children participated in Zumba!   This was part of an all-school celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.






 LETTER "T"~
We taped teeth on our letter "T"!

TERRIFIC TUESDAY 10-1-13

*NOTE:  Our visiting author, Jarrett J. Krosoczka, had flight problems and did not make it to Columbus until this afternoon.  So, tomorrow Pre-K will have a time to meet and visit Mr. Krosoczka.

FREE CHOICE LEARNING~
Walker builds with the tubes at the Fine Motor Station.
 We decorated our letter "Z" with zebra stripes!
 Emily completed a mosaic at the Creation Station and displayed it on her "lily pad'.
 PATTERNS~
We continue our study of patterns.  Today we read a book about finding patterns in everyday objects.  Then, we divided into 2 groups and did "People Patterns".  Be sure to ask your child about the pattern his/her group made today.
