WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY 12-5-12

We have some Pre-K detectives!  With an alphabet chart on a clip board, a crayon, and some special glasses,  Pre-K children search the classroom to find each letter on their chart and then color it in.

At the Creation Station, children can add the color spots on the dog from our story, Dog's Colorful Day.
Marc works to put together a dinosaur skeleton at the Discovery Station.

Dominic and London are on a dinosaur dig at the Sensory Table.

 NURSERY RHYME JOURNAL~
Children completed the phrase in the photo below in their Nursery Rhyme Journals today.  Be sure to ask your child what his/her idea was!
 DICE ACTIVITY~
Children rolled a die and recorded their results on this graph.  Ask your child to show you his/her graph and tell you which number made it to the top first!

TERRIFIC TUESDAY 12-4-12

NEW WORK STATIONS~
At Math Magic, children count the dots on the dominoes and "park" them under the correct number.  Children can make discoveries such as 2+2=4 and 3+1=4.

Children are working on spatial reasoning skills at the Project Station with Mrs. Spolter.
In the photo below, children use pattern blocks to complete the shape/form.
In the photos below, children use cubes to build the structure they see on the card.

At the Discovery Station, children review what they have learned about mixing primary colors to make secondary colors.

At the Fine Motor Station, children practice their cutting skills.
At the Alphabet Station, children roll a die with the letters d and b.  They document (by coloring in the appropriate letter) which letter they "rolled" on the die.  Whichever letter gets its spaces colored in first, wins!

At the Writing Station, children practice these previous passwords....cat, end, king, pop, and sun.

DOG'S COLORFUL DAY~
Yesterday we read the story, Dog's Colorful Day.  Today, we retold the story using props!

MARVELOUS MONDAY 12-3-12

At Math Magic, we put out a hundreds board with number tiles from 1 through 100.  Children can match the tile on to the board.

At the Fine Motor Station, we added 2 new activities.  In the photo below, the task involves drawing the other half of the figure (the boy or the girl).  A good lesson in practicing symmetry!

In the photo below, you see rows of happy and unhappy faces.  Beginning at the happy face surrounded by a square at the top, a child follow the path of only happy faces to reach the happy face surrounded by a square at the bottom.

NURSERY RHYME~
To go along with our study of colors, we added a new nursery rhyme to our Book Nook...."Little Boy Blue".  Ask your child to tell you the rhyming words in this nursery rhyme.
 HANDWRITING~
Today we worked on the correct formation of the numbers 1, 2, and 3 when writing these numbers.

 STAR OF THE WEEK~
Marc is our new "Star of the Week"!  We learned that Marc's favorite color is blue; favorite place to visit is C.O.S.I.; and favorite animal is a giraffe.  Thank you for telling us about your favorite things and sharing your photos with us, Marc!

DOG'S COLORFUL DAY~
Today we read a story about a white dog with one black spot.  He has an eventful and colorful day and ends up with 10 spots--each a different color.
