TERRIFIC TUESDAY 3-31-15

ASK ME ABOUT...
...where I went and what I did for Work Stations.
...what I did in P.E.
...what numbers we learned and practiced writing.

HANDWRITING~
Today students began learning and practicing writing numbers.



  LETTER SOUNDS~
Today we discussed the /sh/ sound and decorated an "SH" with shells.
 
 FREE CHOICE LEARNING~
At Math Magic, children can practice addition problems using a ten-frame tray and manipulatives.
  Also at Math Magic, children can practice their spatial reasoning skills by filling in a hexagon tray with trapezoid shapes.
 

At the Word Work Station, children can do a Spring word find.
 At the Fine Motor Station, children exercise their creative skills and fine motor skills.
 

 EXTENDED DAY~
Today was a Cooking Day!  After reading the story, Guacamole, we made our own guacamole!  The children participated in chopping and mashing the avocado, squeezing the lime juice, chopping the tomatoes, tearing the cilantro and stirring together all of the ingredients.

MARVELOUS MONDAY 3-30-15

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!~
Today we helped Graham celebrate his March birthday!  Graham's mom read the story, Happy Birthday Hamster.  We then ate doughnuts for Graham's birthday treat.  Graham's sister, Caroline, joined us for the celebration, too.  Happy Birthday, Graham! 

 FREE CHOICE LEARNING~
Following are some new activities we introduced during Free Choice time....
At the Alphabet Station, children search for passwords hidden in rice.  Once they find a word, they color the word in on a chart.
 At the Fine Motor Station, children can exercise their fine motor skills and creativity at the same time....
 
 At the Creation Station, children create with strips of paper.....
 
 Children engrossed in a game of "Rushhour" at Games Galore.
 Also at Games Galore, children can play a math game with dominoes.  Each child presents a domino.  The child whose domino as the most dots gets to keep both dominoes.

At the Discovery Station, KJ matches Space objects with their names.
