THRILLING THURSDAY 3-14-13

FREE CHOICE~
Today we introduced a new activity at the Writing Station--Writing Words on the Window.  Using erasable markers, children can write words from our Word Wall or from our Popcorn Words on the windows!

NAVRUZ~
Today, Shelby and her mom taught us about the Spring celebration of Navruz which takes place in the country of Uzbekistan, the country where Shelby was born.
Shelby's mom read an Uzbekistan folktale, The Golden Watermelon, which was written and illustrated by a young child.
This is the flag of Uzbekistan.
Shelby shows her doll who is dressed in Uzbekistan clothing.
Mrs. Spolter was dressed up in clothes that Uzbekistans wear for special occasions, such as Navruz.
Shelby's mom brought in melon to eat and green tea to drink--traditional food and drink for the celebration of Navruz.

SPACE RIDDLES~
We met with our 2nd grade buddies today for Space Riddles ans Space stories!
