TERRIFIC TUESDAY 1-29-13

In our daily morning message, we are purposely leaving out words and having the children help us fill in the missing words during our morning meeting.  This is another strategy children can develop and use when they are reading--reading for meaning and making sense of what you are reading.
BOOK IN A BAG~
On Monday, we introduced our "Book In A Bag" homework activity.  We read the story, Oh, How I Wished I Could Read!  and then discussed different ways to read--recognizing words, "reading" the pictures, or sounding out the words--just to name a few.  We then showed the children the bag to carry their book to and from school, as well as their sheet for recording how many times they practice their book.  We have encouraged the children to practice reading their book 5 times before returning it to school on Thursday.  Remember, we want this to be an enjoyable experience for the children and a way for them to practice their skills in responsibility.  Happy Reading!

NAME NECKLACES~
As a reminder of the new sound of the week, children created name necklaces!
FREE CHOICE FUN!~
Our Dramatic Play Station has been transformed into a "school"/"classroom".
