WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY!

LOOK WHO'S HOPPIN' INTO PRE-K A!

Today Mrs. B explained our daily attendance chart.  When children arrive at our classroom in the morning, they find the card with their first name and turn it over.  This lets us know which children are at school and if anybody is absent.  The activity provides the children with an opportunity to discriminate their name among 17 other names. 

 

 HOPES AND WISHES~

We have posted the children's wishes for what they hope to learn in Pre-K this year.  Be sure to stop by to see your child's wish on Parent Night or when you are here for your Parent/Teacher conference on Friday.

 CLASS RULES~

Today we collected ideas from the children on important class rules that we should have.  These rules will be important in helping us reach our wishes this year in Pre-K.    The Pre-K teachers will "condense" all the children's suggestions into 3 or 4 rules. 

 SPECIAL CLASSES~

Below are the signs for the Special classes we attend during the morning.  When the children arrive, they will find a small, colorful frog on the sign(s) for the Special classes we have on that particular day.

FREE CHOICE FUN~

This week, we opened up the Dramatic Play Station.   Of course, this has been a very popular place to go during Free Choice time.  We also opened drawing activities at the easel.

 PRE-K HOPES AND WISHES~

 Yesterday, we read the story, The Mixed-Up Chameleon and learned about all the different wishes he made in the story.  We then discussed our wishes for what we want to learn in Pre-K this year.   Today, we drew our wishes on stars.  These stars are now hanging on the bulletin board outside of our classroom. 

FANTASTIC FRIDAY!

 CALENDAR~

Today we "unveiled" one of our calendar activities.   We taught the children the "Days of the Week" song and moved our frog to the word "Friday".  Ask your child to tell you why Saturday and Sunday are on red cards and the rest of the days of the week are on yellow cards. 

 STORYTIME~

 Today we read the story Don't Eat The Teacher!  Be sure to ask your child what happens when Sammy the shark (the main character in the story) gets excited!

THURSDAY AUGUST 23RD

Today we met 3 new teachers........

...we met Senora Gutierrez and learned some Spanish.

...we met Mrs. Adams and Mr. Leach who will teach us P.E.

Be sure to ask your child about the story, Pete the Cat:  Rocking in My School Shoes!  We read the story and then listened to the story and song--dancing with motions!
